Write a detailed description of the process of drinking a glass of water, eating an apple, or the act of ingesting some other small meal. Renovate your conception of what constitutes an event.– by Lucy Ives
My nails tinkle on the side of the glass as I reach to grab it. My palm presses against the cold surface, and my fingers slowly stretch to surround the holder. I bring it in, closer to me, like some sort of treasure chest, in a comforting feeling that it is mine only. I stare at it to buy time: a see-through container containing a see-through content that somehow sustains me. I exhale in a shot, uneasy to ingest it. The chilling surface pressed against my lips is somewhat soothing. I spill a drop making its way toward my chin; the rest of the liquid awakes my body. I feel my throat, my stomach; my brain acknowledges the trail. I reckon elements of my body that are usually forgotten. I swallow; there’s some left, but my belly’s full.
